About Me

Hello! My name is Cherlyn Tung, a 22-year-old Singaporean whose destiny is entwined with her love for food.
Since young, I have always loved reading storybooks, which slowly developed into a passion for writing. Somehow along the way, that interest in writing steered towards the magazine industry, and when I realised the extent of how much I loved writing about food and experimenting with it, it redefined my direction in life. From that moment onwards, I decided that I wanted to be the editor of a food and lifestyle magazine, and I have not looked back since.
Amongst my family and friends, I am known as the “foodie”, and even though it is a classic Singaporean trait, I am probably one of the more extreme ones, as I never fail to whip out my phone and snap shots of every single dish I consume. The topic of food is always on my mind, and whenever it arises in any situation, I will not hesitate to get a word in. In my own free time, I love to cook and bake, as it brings joy to me, and I find it rather therapeutic to do so. As I like to have a variety of dishes and try new things, I am always open to new ideas, no matter how ridiculous it may seem at first. Also, my Instagram has become my food diary, and it will bring back fond memories when I look at them a year later or more. I also own a food blog, "unceasingfoodfullness", where I share recipes, tips and reviews. There is a starting point for everyone, and that would probably be mine.
I started my journey as a writer in Singapore Polytechnic in 2011, where I graduated with a diploma in Creative Writing for TV and New Media. It has shaped me into an all-rounded media student, as it has equipped me with all the necessary skills needed to keep up with the ever changing trends in this digital age. Those areas trained in include journalism, scriptwriting, new media, and filmmaking. In terms of computer skills, I can handle Microsoft Office, Final Cut Pro, Celtx scriptwriting software, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Prezi.
Right now, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism degree in Queensland University of Technology, and I plan to bring all the information I gleaned during my course of study here, back to Singapore, and bring a different and fresh perspectives to the publishing industry there. As each day passes by, I am one step closer to realising my dream.
